6th Grade Confirmation Details

It's almost time for a new confirmation class! Here are the details you need to know if you have a rising 6th grader:

What is confirmation?

We believe that confirmation is a significant step in the journey of faith. 6th Graders learn basic building blocks of faith as disciples of Jesus Christ and members of the United Methodist Church. Our students spend a year learning what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of the United Methodist Church. Throughout the year they participate in classes, service opportunities, retreats, and much more.

Does my family have to be a member at HFUMC to attend confirmation?

No. Confirmation is for any 6th grader that is willing to make the commitment to attend weekly and learn more about the church and their faith. Students will have the opportunity to join the church and/or get baptized at the end of confirmation.

How do we get started?

There is a parent meeting at 5 pm on Sunday, August 12 in the Genesis Hall. Regular confirmation meetings are held weekly at 5 pm on Sunday afternoons in CW 228, kicking off August 19. Attendance at Sunday school at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings is also encouraged.

What are the dates of retreat?

The Kick-Off Retreat is August 24-26 at New Frontiers Camp in Dowellton, TN. The Winter Retreat in Pigeon Forge is January 25-27.

Do you need volunteers?

Yes! Confirmation is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child and their peers. We have opportunities to attend a retreat, prepare weekly snack supper, and serve as a mentor. If you are interested, please email John for more details.

We are thankful for our 6th graders and this important step in their faith development. We are looking forward to an awesome confirmation year. See you at the Parent Meeting on August 12.
